Optimum Test Sequence Generation from Estelle Specifications
نویسندگان
چکیده
The recent research results from the Protocol Engineering Lab of the University of Delaware in minimum-length test generation based on Estelle speci cations are summarized. The methods use models restricting the number of self-loops to be consecutively traversed for each state, and utilizing semicontrollable interfaces of the IUT to increase the number of testable transitions. The initial results show that test sequences can be successfully generated for real-life Estelle speci cations, such as MIL-STD 188-220B. The test sequences are free of interruptions due to unexpected timeouts. Also, the number of testable transitions is increased by 300%.

Test Case Generation Based on Formal Speci cations in Estelle
This paper deals with the generation of conformance test sequences from speciications in Estelle. Our approach is to make the well-founded test generation methods based on nite state machines (FSM) applicable to speciications in Estelle. An algorithm is presented for transformation of Estelle modules into a form free of provided-clauses. The transformed modules allow to apply test generation me...
متن کاملOn the Influence of Semantic Constraints on the Code Generation from Estelle Specifications
Implementations automatically derived from formal descriptions often do not fulfill the performance requirements of real-life applications. There are several reasons for this. In the paper, we address two of these issues for the FDT Estelle. The first issue has to do with the impact of the Estelle semantics on the code generation. We show that a performance gain can be achieved, if the module a...
متن کاملAnalysis Tools for Estelle Specifications
The paper introduces new tools for Estelle specification analysis, namely an Estelle static analyzer (ESA) and a random test generator (RTG). ESA finds non allowed inputs in a specification. A non allowed input is such an interaction that will never be consumed. Arrival of such an interaction results in blocking of an input queue and could lead to a deadlock. RTG helps in extensive simulations....
متن کاملA New Approach for Distributing Estelle Specifications
Deriving distributed prototypes and implementations from formal speci cations is one of the most important aspects of an implementation-oriented language like Estelle. Some tools already exist allowing the generation of distributed programs to be executed on a computer network. All these tools follow the same approach: code in a programming language is directly generated from the speci cation, ...
متن کاملAutomated Test Case Generation from IFAD VDM++ Specifications
Most of the current research on automatic generation of test cases from formal specifications has been directed towards non object-oriented formal specifications. While objectoriented paradigm is the most widely accepted methodology for software development, generation of test cases from object-oriented formal specifications is still a relatively unexplored area. In this paper, we present a nov...
